2 Bowls To Make With Acai Powder

Acai bowls are most typically made with frozen acai puree. However, there are some regions in which this ingredient is hard to find. If you can't find acai puree at your grocery store, you can still make acai bowls. You'll just need to use powdered acai instead of puree. Here are three smoothie bowl recipes you can follow using acai powder.

Four Berry Acai Bowl

This bowl is on the sweeter side because it's made with so many berries and also juice. However, it is also high in fiber, which helps slow down the absorption of sugar into your bloodstream. You'll need:

  • 1/2 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1/4 cup frozen blackberries
  • 2 tablespoons acai powder
  • 1 cup apple juice
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1/2 sliced banana
  • 1/2 cup fresh blueberries

Combine the acai powder, frozen berries, chia seeds, and apple juice in a blender. Blend until smooth and creamy. You may have to pulse the blender a few times as this mixture will be very thick. Pour the blended acai mixture into your bowl. Top it with the sliced banana and fresh blueberries. Serve, or enjoy it yourself.

Banana and Yogurt Acai Bowl

If you want an acai bowl that's a bit higher in protein and probiotics, then this is the recipe for you. It's sweet, but not too sweet, and the granola on top pairs wonderfully with the banana flavor. You'll need:

  • 1/2 cup sliced, frozen banana
  • 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
  • 2 tablespoons acai powder
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup water or juice
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1/2 cup fresh, sliced banana
  • 2 - 3 sliced strawberries
  • 1/4 cup granola

Combine the frozen blueberries, acai powder, yogurt, frozen banana, water or juice, chia seeds, and acai powder in a blender. Pulse a few times, then blend until smooth. You may need to add another tablespoon or two of water or juice, depending on your blender. Pour the mixture into a bowl, and top artfully with the sliced banana, strawberries, and granola. Serve immediately. If you won't be able to eat this immediately, wait to put the granola on top until you're ready to eat. This will keep it from getting soggy.

Both of these acai bowls are delicious and nutritious, even though they don't require frozen acai puree. The acai powder is a good substitute and tastes lovely when blended into the other key ingredients.
